Kia ora koutou!

Happy New Year and tino pai rawa! to you wonderful people who are hanging in there with us. As the new year starts we want to get in touch to let you know the progress is absolutely still continuing!
Firstly we have some fabulous news to report... After much anticipation our patience and efforts have finally paid off and at the end of last year we were at last given the sign off from Auckland Council for the Community Garden at Seine Rd Reserve! Also some news from us personally, in the same week we received news of the approval, we also received life changing news that we had been chosen to adopt a baby girl! Kyla, now 7 months, joins the team in getting this awesome mahi off the ground!

Current Situation
While we have been granted Land Owner Approval, we are now awaiting a Licence to Occupy (did someone say red tape....?) before we can start work on the site. This Licence requires that we form a charitable trust to operate the garden, a service that has been kindly sponsored by the good people at Kemps Weir Lwayers.
This next phase of the process will require another council prepared report to be presented to the local board for decision, as well as public notification although we have no doubt that by this point it is just a matter of course. However given our experience of time frames we are reluctant to predict how long this part of the process might take! Like most things in a garden, good things take time!

In the meantime, we hope you have a chance to eat a home grown strawberry or two this summer...

Phoebe
