Update: Feb 2019

Kia ora fellow community garden enthusiasts!

We thought it was high time for a progress update now that the new year is well underway.
Progress

In early December last year, we presented the proposal to the local board and were really encouraged by how positively the idea seemed to be received. Around the same time we lodged an application for landowner approval and have since responded to a request from the Council for an indication of site plans and the vegetation proposed. From this point, our allocated land use advisor will begin consulting with specialists.
Once the land advisors assessment is complete, they will present the proposal to the local board for a decision in principle, at which point the land advisors will undertake public consultation and hearing if required. Then we will all be advised of the final decision!

Timings
The timing is a little tricky to pin down but a Council document of the process indicates the approval process could take anywhere from 13-22 weeks... but we're in this for the long haul so hang in with us! The rewards for those of us involved and our community as a whole will be well worth the wait :)
